Flash in the Viral Youtube Pan – or Here to Stay?
You probably know their story. They were a college men's a cappella group, very popular on Indiana University campus and in the a cappella competition circuit. Then they graduated and went their separate ways. Six years later, in 2007, one of the members posted on Youtube their 1998 live performance of a very amusing "12 Days of Christmas." Seven million hits later, Atlantic Records came calling. The video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fe11OlMiz8 It's now at over 12 million hits.

Phishing Expedition:
I’ve heard OF them, but never actually HEARD them. Oh, maybe a song here or there, but I've never actually LISTENED to them. I hear they have diehard fans that travel high and low. It's rumored that Phish fans are unlike any other. It’s not about the trip- it’s about the music and…at the same time…it’s not about the music- it’s about the trip.

Review: Ozzy Osbourne
Location: Izod Center, East Rutherford, NJ
Date: 12/3/10
Ozzy’s Birthday Show 2010
Ozzy is officially now 62. The man who helped bring to fame the heaviest and gloomiest rock and roll band of the seventies, Black Sabbath, the first anti-peace and love child to rise to immense stardom, Mr. Ozzy Osbourne is now legal retirement age in many countries. The great thing is: Ozzy won’t retire. In fact, he recently started an eighteen month round the world tour, longer than anyone else out there even near his age. Just goes to show, Ozzy is the ultimate godfather of heavy metal. The ultimate Prince of Darkness, the ultimate showman.

Ryan Lauder came all the way from Scotland and landed in Burlington, VT. He bought a guitar and with his clean, crystal voice endeared the Iron Horse crowd with a seven song set that was a perfect segway for Langhorne Slim tonight. Lauder's voice bellowed what he called 'romantic' ballads that were sad, intense and whisper strong. Rose and Crown was as endearing as it was technical. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBnXr8EYzxY
One of my favorites was "Hole in My Pocket" " ... and the blues, and the blues and the blues whisper away..."
He took to the banjo, and then Jeff Ratner and David Moore joined him on to the stage, treating us to a song together. They really jammed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25DE4ngGIR8 The last song "I see my reflection in you" had some great guitar slides and showed he is quite a well rounded musician. Come again to our strange land, Mr. Lauder!

This past week I was able to hear an interview with one of music's most awesome piano players as well as a great song writer. The Howard Stern show on Sirius satellite radio had Billy Joel as a guest. For almost 2 hours, Billy sat at a piano and talked with Howard and told stories, as well as played some of his best songs.

Review: Alberta Cross
Date: November 9, 2010
Venue: The Temptress Boat Cruise, NYC
Rock and Roll Rocks the Boat!!!
We've all been to rock and roll shows. Most of us have been to huge arenas, medium size stadiums, small intimate clubs, casino showrooms, many places to see a show. Tonight was different. Tonight was something new. Tonight was outstanding rock and roll on a ship! I didn't really research the venue before going, just knew that it was a boat cruise with my absolute favorite new band Alberta Cross being supported by another band called the London Souls. It just so happened that I was in town for Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin experience already but even if I wasn't I would not miss Alberta Cross. Wild horses... as they say.
