Ascoltare un disco nuovo di un autentico pioniere, negli anni '80, del Synth-Pop italiano come Renato Abate, in arte Garbo, e' sempre una piacevolissima carezza nell'anima.
Un artista la cui visione in musica, dopo 40 e piu' anni nell'olimpo musicale italiano, non e' mai stata circoscritta da imposizioni discografiche o dettata dall'esigenza di dover giocoforza aderire ad un determinato filone musicale, pur di accontentare numerose migliaia di fans, la direzione sonora di Garbo e' sempre stata ed e' ancora fermamente protesa in avanti, con la voglia ancora forte di sperimentare con la musica, in modo che essa diventi traduttrice fedele della crescita musicale e personale di questo raffinato cantautore.
Indubbiamente, il nuovo disco dell'artista milanese, chiamato Nel Vuoto, conferma una volta di piu' quel desiderio irrefrenabile di Garbo di cesellare le sue canzoni con una forte vena sperimentativa che meglio esprima le sue liriche, senza timore di muoversi tra tempi musicali che abbracciano Electro/Punk, Synth-Pop, arrangiamenti orchestrali di grande effetto o cupe atmosfere elettroniche intrise di enigmatici campionamenti.
Nel Vuoto e' un ritorno davvero coi fiocchi, per Garbo, un disco dove l'artista italiano riesce a coniugare perfettamente brani di rimarchevole impatto sonoro con la sua personale analisi del mondo che lo circonda, raccontando in maniera garbata ma spietatamente vera di una umanita' incapace di prendere responsabilita' diretta sul futuro del mondo, rifuggendo personalmente, ed in maniera emozionale, al triste pensiero, un giorno, di dover trovare rifugio su un altro pianeta per poter sopravvivere allo sfacelo naturale ed umano che l'uomo, con gli anni, ha contribuito ignominiosamente a creare nel nostro pianeta.
Il nuovo disco dell'artista milanese, oltre che a rappresentare un richiamo severo alla coscienza di noi tutti per la salvaguardia del nostro futuro, tocca anche, in modo profondo ed estremamente toccante, il tema sul crescente isolamento che il mondo intero vive, in questa ultima decade, specialmente attraverso brani come quello che da' il via all'album, chiamato Come Pietre, per esempio, oppure un altra bellissima composizione, chiamata Coscienza.
Che il cantautore milanese sia un raffinato musicista a tutto tondo, e' ampiamente dimostrato e il fatto che Garbo riesca sempre ad incorporare differenti matrici musicali con organicita' e perfetta coerenza artistica, dopo piu di 4 decenni in musica, costituisce un enorme valore aggiunto, nella complessita' di un disco molto ben calibrato nelle liriche e nei suoni come Nel Vuoto.
Se la discografia di Garbo fosse una collana di perle, non vi e' dubbio alcuno che Nel Vuoto ne sarebbe una delle perle piu' splendenti ed importanti. Un altro avvincente episodio musicale nella fulgida carriera di uno straordinario musicista.

Listening to a new album by an authentic pioneer of Italian Synth-Pop in the 80s like Renato Abate, aka Garbo, is always a very pleasant caress to the soul.
An artist whose vision in music, after 40 or more years in the Italian musical Olympus, has never been limited by record labels' impositions or dictated by the need to necessarily adhere to a specific musical trend, in order to satisfy numerous thousands of fans, Garbo's sonic direction has always been and still is firmly leaning forward, with the still strong desire to experiment with music, so that it becomes a faithful translator of the musical and personal growth of this refined singer-songwriter.
Undoubtedly, the new album by the Milanese artist, called Nel Vuoto, confirms once again Garbo's irrepressible desire to chisel his songs with a strong experimental streak that better expresses his lyrics, without fear of moving between musical genres that embrace Electro/Punk, Synth-Pop, impressive orchestral arrangements or dark electronic atmospheres imbued with enigmatic sampling.
Nel Vuoto is a truly great return for Garbo, an album where the Italian artist manages to perfectly combine songs of remarkable sound impact with his personal analysis of the world around him, telling the reality of humanity in a polite but ruthlessly true manner, a humanity incapable of taking direct responsibility for the future of the world, fleeing personally and emotionally from the sad thought, one day, of having to find refuge on another planet in order to survive the natural and human demise that men, through the years, have ignominiously contributed to creating on our planet.
The new album by the Milanese artist, as well as representing a severe appeal to the conscience of us all for the protection of our future, also touches, in a profound and extremely touching way, the theme of the growing isolation that the whole world experiences, in this last decade, especially through songs like the one that kicks off the album, called Come Pietre, for example, or another beautiful composition, called Coscienza.
